 At Breakthroughs Film Festival 2023, we’re excited to feature both
online and in-person events


ONLINE FESTIVAL

All of our films will be available to watch online from June 8th-11th. Tickets are available to buy as individual program passes, (Fighting for the Future, Healing for our Futures, Imagining New Futures, Futures Together and Apart) for $10 each, including filmmaker Q&As. Or get access to all four programmes for $35! Please note, all programmes will be geo-blocked to Canada.

IN-PERSON EVENTs

June 8th, 2023 | Doors open at 5pm, show starts at 6pm

Join us on June 8th at Paradise Theatre for our opening night! We’ll be celebrating with an awards ceremony, screening the programmes Futures Together and Apart and Imagining New Futures, plus Q&As with attending filmmakers.

June 9th, 2023 | Doors open at 5pm, show starts at 6pm

On June 9th, we’ll be featuring the programmes Healing for our Futures and Fighting for the Future, plus a Q&A with attending filmmakers. Screenings will be followed by a social hour.

This year, we’ve got several different ticket types for in-person events. See an individual program for $10 each or pay $15 for the entire night. We’ve also got an in-person events pass for both nights for a discounted rate of $25!

INDUSTRY EVENTs

Masterclass in Filmmaking with Jasmin Mozaffari

Come for an in-depth session of everything from what to know about submitting to arts council grants, how to create pitch decks about your projects, how to assemble a storyboard and how that storyboard will translate in production. Jasmin will be available as well for any questions about her career and about the things she wished she knew as she was starting up as an emerging filmmaker.

Hear from the founder and CEO of Films With A Cause, Yazmeen Kanji, the Director of Consulting at Films With A Cause, Roha Hena, and Yusra Ahmad, consultant on the acclaimed CTV series, Transplant.
