Mélanie Lê phan

Melanie Le Phan has worked for CBC Television in both Scripted and Unscripted programming since 2013. She is currently an Executive in Charge of Production for Scripted Digital Originals for CBC, overseeing production and development of mid-form series for CBC Gem and of social video series for CBC Comedy. She has worked on the most recent seasons of True Dating Stories, How to Buy A Baby in addition to the upcoming series Detention Adventures and Warigami. Mélanie has also worked on digital unscripted content, including the doc series Farm Crime and The Artists as well as several CBC Docs: Shorts one-offs.

Sherien barsoum

Sherien Barsoum is a filmmaker and story consultant who is inspired by people and issues making the world a better place. Her first feature, COLOUR ME was a bold exploration of black identity narratives. Most recently, Sherien directed and produced and PLAYER ZERO and RIDE FOR PROMISE which won the HotDocs Short Film Pitch and Best Canadian Documentary at NorthWest Fest. She produced BABE, I HATE TO GO, which played top festivals internationally and was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award. Sherien was the story consultant on the Oscar-shortlisted FRAME 394 and co-produced HOUSE OF Z, the first feature film bought and distributed by Condé Nast, now on Netflix. Sherien is the former Director of Programming for the Reelworld Film Festival and serves as a board member of the Documentary Organization of Canada’s Ontario Chapter.


nathalie younglai

Nathalie Younglai is a Writer-Director, who has written on Coroner (CBC), Magic School Bus Rides Again (Netflix), Dino Dana (TVO/Amazon), 16 Hudson (TVO) and directed on ‘Til Debt Do Us Part (Slice) and Princess (Slice). She is the founder of BIPOC TV & Film, a grassroots organization dedicated to increasing representation of Black, Indigenous and People of Colour in front and behind the camera. Nathalie was recently nominated in the children's writing category for the Canadian Screen Awards and the Daytime Emmys. She is currently writing on Coroner Season 2 and developing a project with Kim's Convenience star, Simu Liu. She is ready for Asian August, all-year round.
