Hannah Cheesman is an award-winning actor, writer and filmmaker based in Toronto. A graduate of The National Theatre School of Canada, Hannah was recently named an Irving Avrich 2014 recipient of TIFF’s Emerging Canadian Filmmakers. She is the co-writer, creator, and star of Whatever, Linda — a ten-part digital dramedy inspired by the notorious Madoff Ponzi scheme, but imagining a lowly secretary as the scheme’s bright mastermind. Executive produced by Emmy Award-winning Secret Location, the series is currently in festival rotation, and has won 5 awards to date including: Best of the Fest (Miami), New Discovery (writing – Raindance), Best Web Dramedy (ITVfest), and Best Lead Actor (Raindance). Whatever, Linda will be released November 17, 2014 at whateverlinda.com. Hannah has also penned & directed two shorts, Brunch Bitch (Best Actress, Houston Comedy Film Fest) and Cheese, which premiered at Palm Springs Shortsfest 2014, and was featured at this year’s Cannes Coup de Coeur. Hannah was also a lead actor/associate producer in TIFF 2013 film The Animal Project (Dir. Ingrid Veninger/pUNK Films), and can now be seen as a series regular on Nickelodeon/YTV show Max & Shred. Currently, Hannah is working as story coordinator on season 3 of Orphan Black. When not acting and writing and working, Hannah is half of Aberrant Pictures along with Orphan Blackproducer Mackenzie Donaldson; the team is poised to go to camera with their first feature, The Definites, featuring Michael Seater and Hannah Cheesman. Starting November 15, Hannah & Mackenzie will be seen in The Globe & Mail for a year-long feature series, where both will be contributing writers.
